Quake III: Team Arena è bello. Bello da vedere, divertente da giocare. Il singleplayer è più inutile che nel suo papà , ma perlomeno potete prendere confidenza con le mappe, che sono spesso molto articolate.
Modalità di gioco
1.One Flag CTF - questa è un'interessante variante al classico CTF: in ogni mappa sarà presente una sola bandiera da raccogliere e portare all'interno della propria base. Ciò vuol dire che saranno preferite strategie aggressive, puntate all'attacco, piuttosto che non difensive, visto che non c'è niente da difendere. Insomma, chi arriva primo e prende la bandiera, vince.
2.Overload - altra modalità di gioco piuttosto interessante: in ogni base è presente un 'obelisco' a forma di teschio e che costituisce il fulcro attorno al quale ruota tutta la partita. Compito di ogni squadra sarà quello di entrare nella base avversaria e distruggerne l'obelisco. Naturalmente, è più facile a dirsi che a farsi, visto che l'artefatto rigenera rapidamente la sua 'salute', quando non è sotto attacco.
3.Harvester - questa modalità è la versione di squadra del famoso mod HeadHunters Classic (un po' troppo simile, a dire la verità ). Per ogni frag, il giocatore dovrà raccogliere dal centro della mappa un teschio. I teschi raccolti, poi, andranno portati all'interno della base avversaria ed il giocatore otterrà i punti toccando una sorta di altare. Naturalmente, più teschi il giocatore riuscirà a portare, più alto sarà il punteggio, ma maggiormente diventerà preda dei giocatori avversari.
4.Tournament - si tratta di una modalità single player, nella quale sarà possibile affrontare un torneo a squadre, con avversari via via più forti. In questo caso il giocatore dovrà affidarsi completamente all'IA dei bot che giocheranno al suo fianco. Non mancheranno duelli 1vs1.
Tra le nuove armi presentate troverete la mitica Nailgun, la sparachiodi di Quake 1!

Le mappe presenti in questo add on sono ben 12!
Troveremo 8 mappe dedicate al teamplay in qualunque modalità più 4 mappe 'tourney' (1vs1). In aggiunta, sono state modificate le 4 mappe per il CTF, espandendole ed aggiornandole alle novità introdotte.
Una caratteristica dei nuovi livelli è la presenza di spazi aperti, basi lontane e, più in generale, l'uso di veri e propri 'terreni', capaci di dare una sensazione di maggiore libertà rispetto alle mappe tradizionali.
